Meet Genysia Brown
Genysia is currently a Senior at the University of California, Irvine and will graduate with a B.A. in Drama in June.
Genysia Brown is an Orange-County based director, dedicated to amplifying the unique and nuanced stories of historically underrepresented communities. Directing gives her the opportunity to work in fellowship with other communities to amplify and authentically represent their experiences.
Genysia has attended the University of California, Irvine since 2022 and you may have seen her in. You may have seen her in Stall: A Play in One Bathroom or Student Voices Project at UC Irvine. Genysia has been Co-President of Black Door Theater Company, UC Irvine’s only theater company dedicated to supporting artists of the African Diaspora and their stories.
Genysia’s made her directorial debut directing Jackie Sibblies Drury’s Fairview in December of 2024. She in currently in rehearsal as an assistant director for one production and in pre-production for another directing project. Genysia is a collaborative and insightful director that is continuing to learn and gain more directing experience.
